When I start any conversation with a new CEO I’ve been introduced to, I typically start with the three primary pipelines in their organization. Three things are happening as this conversation develops:
- The CEO now grasps the three critical performance issues in their business.
- I now understand the key performance deficiencies in the context of these three pipelines based on the CEO’s feedback.
- Finally, we have a simple framework to follow to outline the biggest initiatives over the next 90-180 days, instead of picking random strategies and tactics to tackle first.
In this short tutorial, I will show you the three primary pipelines in any business or NPO and how to use this as a thinking tool, not to replace your current mental models, but to augment and support what you are already comfortable working with.
Especially in the NPO world, I’ve found that managers can learn these three pipelines in 10-15 minutes, teach them to their peers and team members, and can start acting on what they have learned immediately.
