Do You Need a Coach to Implement Open-Book Management?

Open Book Management

Thank you, Dennis Karstens, for handing me the book, The Great Game of Business, in 1993. I loved that book and wondered why every business didn’t practice open-book thinking and practices. What’s to lose? More importanly what will a business gain?

In 2000 and 2001, I worked on my first open-book management (OBM) project. I failed miserably. Or did I? The business I worked with had no desire to implement OBM. And that’s when I learned the biggest lessons before even talking about OBM with a business owner or a non-profit executive director.

In this article, I’ll share the pros and cons of hiring an OBM expert if you want to integrate OBM thinking and doing in your organization. When you hear the cons, I promise that you will say, “Ah, that makes total sense.” Let’s roll.
